British Standard BS8470
The above new British Standard was published in April 2006 and covers the facilities and security of an organisation such as HWP Security Destruction providing contracted services for the secure destruction of confidential material.
Security features including contracts and audit trail, sub-contracting, screening of personnel and the collection, retention and conveyance of confidential material along with material specific shred and disintegration sizes are covered by the standard.
HWP Security Destruction meets the new BS 8470 standard and is also a lead member of the United Kingdom Security Shredding Association (UKSSA).
As a trade organisation, the UKSSA provides members with clear guidelines for operation and members' customers with the assurance required to select security-shredding services with absolute confidence.
All UKSSA members are vetted every two years by the National Security Inspectorate (NSI) and receive NSI certification as evidence of compliance.
